8 January, 2009 – David Gillmore has won the “Employee of the Year Award” – an award for employees at The Chester Grosvenor and Spa, the luxury hotel located in the heart of Chester. This award recognises the outstanding success of employees of the hotel and was presented this year by The Chairman of the hotel Mr Stuart May.
David (age 27) joined the kitchen brigade in January 2007 as Sous Chef in charge of the Meetings & Events kitchen. He had previously worked for the hotel for 18 months in 2002 as a Chef de Partie in the kitchen of the hotel’s Michelin starred restaurant.
Simon Radley, Executive Chef at the five red star hotel believes David’s commitment, skill, attitude and leadership qualities are all contributing factors in his success. “David is an extremely popular and highly valued member of the team, one who rises to each new challenge with enthusiasm and a genuine care for the preservation of the highest standards of food production”, said Simon.
Commenting on receiving the award, David said “It is an honour to receive this award; the whole brigade in the kitchen work extremely hard every day and it is always very satisfying to have our efforts recognised”.
As Employee of the Year, David has won 3 nights at his choice of luxury hotel in Paris from the Small Luxury Hotels of the World collection, inclusive of return travel, breakfast and dinner each day.
The other nominees were: Kate Wildman – Sales Manager, Wieslaw Krupski – Demi Chef de Rang in the newly refurbished Simon Radley at The Chester Grosvenor restaurant and Antje Albrecht – Senior Receptionist, all of whom receive a prize of a weekend break for two in a UK hotel from the Small Luxury Hotels of the World or Pride of Britain Hotels collections. -ends-
