December 2008 – There were congratulations all round for two key members of the exceptional team at Simon Radley at The Chester Grosvenor last month.
Sommelier Garry Clark who has been with the hotel for over four years and presides over one of the most comprehensive cellars in the country was the winner of the ‘Food and Wine Service Award’ at the prestigious Hotel Catey Awards held in London on Friday 7th November.
The restaurant’s namesake Simon Radley was named ‘Hotel Chef of The Year’ (less than 250 covers) at the ceremony which was hosted by Rob Brydon at London’s Royal Lancaster Hotel. Accepting the award, Simon Radley said: “I am thrilled to have won a Hotel Catey Award. To have been named a finalist along with two such highly revered chefs is achievement enough however to have been voted ‘Hotel Chef of the Year’ by my peers is for me a great honour. I accept this award on behalf of every member of my brigade here at The Chester Grosvenor and Spa all of whom have contributed to the high standards of food in the hotel”.
