Gentlemen's Afternoon Tea

Gentlemen's Afternoon Tea

It’s set to be the fashionable place to be seen for the sophisticated man-about-town.

The Chester Grosvenor is launching an ‘Afternoon Tea for Gentlemen’ where hearty fare, strong tea and good male company are on the menu.

The Arkle Bar and Lounge will host discerning menfolk keen to enjoy afternoon tea with a distinctive masculine slant for £21.50 per person.

The traditional finger food and delicate French pastries will be replaced with crusty doorstep sandwiches and chunky chips prepared by The Chester Grosvenor’s award-winning chefs.

Add a tipple, such as a large glass of red wine or a gin and tonic, to have alongside your tea for just £27.50.

A cheese platter will be served up alongside filing beef and horseradish, chicken or egg mayonnaise sandwiches.

Pastry chef Luke Frost will be cooking up homemade rich fruit cake and rocky road crunch bars to cater for a male appetite.

A selection of newspapers will be available for chaps to peruse while relaxing in five-star comfort and a backgammon set will be available for gentleman with a competitive streak.

Restaurant manager Mark Bevan said: “The Chester Grosvenor’s afternoon tea is a firm favourite with groups of female friends and daughters who treat their mums. But we think there’s a definite appetite for an afternoon tea tailored to our male customers too so we’ve let the men muscle in on this hotel favourite.

“The men at The Chester Grosvenor got their heads together and come up with their ideal menu of things they’d like to eat at an ‘Afternoon Tea for Gentlemen’.

“Thick slabs of fruit cake and really strong Cheddar were high on the list as were thick cut sandwiches.

“Gentlemen have always enjoyed our traditional afternoon tea but this is an alternative for them.

“Our ‘Afternoon Tea for Gentlemen’ is the perfect opportunity to treat your devoted dad or get together with your male friends in a relaxing but masculine environment.”

‘Afternoon Tea for Gentlemen’ will be served between noon and 4.30pm daily. For reservations, please contact Ann Wiggins on 01244 895618 or e-mail: restaurants@chestergrosvenor.com.
